Tourmasters South Pacific was established in 1987 and pioneered a programme of packaged coach tours for free independent travellers in New Zealand – providing a range of innovative itineraries and accommodation options combined with travel by coach, train and aeroplane. 'Thrifty Tours' continues to be a leader in its field for independent package holidays using regular transport services.

Further Tourmasters developments has seen the establishment of other complimentary products in the market place including; a high quality self drive touring program using boutique or self-catering accommodation; a freewheel, self-drive program that allows the FIT traveller maximum flexibility. For the luxury market, Tourmasters has brought together a top quality holiday experience using exclusive accommodation with chauffeur driven vehicles.

In 2001, Tourmasters was able to extend its range of touring product to all sectors of the market, with the amalgamation of Magic Travellers Network. Established in 1991, Magic provides independent transport options for backpackers and independent travellers. Finally, in line with the ever changing needs of the backpacker market, a program of fixed itinerary tours using backpacker coach network but featuring quality accommodation with private ensuite facilities was successfully launched.

Tourmasters is able to cater to the full needs of the F.I.T. traveller, customising pre-set itineraries as required, creating individual New Zealand itineraries from scratch, and booking all the associated services such as transfers, accommodation and activities.
